According to the FBI, hate crime is defined as motivated bias crimes against race, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, or ethnicity. Hate crime often happens among the LGBTQ community and results in thousands of LGBTQ people dying from this type of crime, all because of their sexual and/or gender identity.
